Research paper notes are a separate grade. The students are provided with a Note Card rubric at the beginning of the project, so they understand how they will be graded on this part of the project.
General information Cards (10 points) - to be used to write the lead to the opening paragraph of the paper. Three cards are about person A. Three cards are about person B. Total: 6 Cards
Compare and Contrast Cards (20 points) - Three comparison and three contrast cards that show how person A and person B are similar and different. These cards, with statements written in complete sentences, include ideas that can be proven to be true. That Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were great presidents can be "proven." The historian would not use research to "prove" that they were both presidents. That both men were presidents is a fact rather than something that can be proven. Total: 6 Cards
